My friend Kim is one of the most hospitable people I know. She thinks of everything – before you even know you want it. She is just so intentional about blessing the people who come through her doors. We’ll probably talk some more about Kim as the month goes on but I wanted to tell you about one sweet thing she does.
She has a basket full of hand knit footies next to her front door so that when you come in and walk on her hardwood floors, your toes stay cozy. How cute and welcoming is that?
And, as a bonus, my kids would advise you that they also make great sliders to use in zipping across said hardwood floors. Hypothetically speaking, of course. I would never let my kids be so reckless in someone else’s house. Pfft. Of course not.
Granted, YOU don’t need to put a basket of footies by your front door to be hospitable. That’s just something fun that Kim has done to express her heart. I love it because it says, “I’ve planned for you (and your toes). I’ve even gone to the trouble to prepare for your visit.” It’s just a simple touch that communicates invitation and warmth.
So, my question to you: what is a special touch or intentional act that someone has done in the spirit of hospitality that has made you feel loved? Comment below because I’d love to hear some ways that hospitality has blessed you. ‘Cause, really, I don’t need to do all the talking here.
Grace and peace,
